There is a lot to see if you take your time exploring this old city but one building stands out. It is the Church of St. George in the Old Fortress. It looks like its from the ancient greek times but in fact it was built in 1840 to meet the religious needs of the British soldiers who served in Corfu. I was really surprised by this as everything else dates back to the 15th century.
The building architecture and style has a very Venetian feel to it but without the canals. I will most definitely want to come back and explore the surrounding areas. Plus lots of reviews about Corfu indicate that its become very well known for its relaxed beaches and holiday atmosphere.
