La Kouzina Sushi, Port Elizabeth, South Africa (2014)
AA very good friend Paul Fontana asked me to take photos of sushi for one of the restaurants (La Kouzina) in Port Elizabeth he had shares in. Here are some of the photos taken of La Kouzina sushi, my very first attempt at food photography.
I take my hat off to those that do this for a living. Food Photography is not as easy as one would think. Especially if you have to take over 50 photos and keep them all looking similar in layout, lighting and design.
I know lots of you take food photos with your cell phone camera and post them of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, etc. But believe me its not that simple. Plus doing this onsite in a restaurant with ever changing lighting as the afternoon light turns to night. And then there is that self-control not to eat one’s subjects! Man alive this is not an easy photography genres.
PS: My friend Paul has now moved to Cape Town and now owns a very cool restaurant called Café de la Monté in the Durbanville area. I have been told they have some awesome cakes that they serve for deserts. Think I need to visit him more often 🙂
